Royle Forest Wedding Photographer ~ Jo & Brad
Now this was a magical gathering.
Magic The Gathering was also part of the theme and I wanted to make any kind of pun that I could to kick things off.
I’d met this beautiful couple a few years back at another wedding where I’d got talking to Brad about camera gear and whilst that’s not my favourite topic, I clicked with Brad and we stayed in contact from then. After he popped the question to Jo, I was thrilled when he got in touch to book me for their big day.
Set in the middle of a Derbyshire woodland the Royle Forest is a new tipi wedding venue that’s perfect for a summer wedding. And god dammit was this a scorcher!
Bridal preparation was super chill with me, Jo and her sisters bonding over a mutual love of Gilmore Girls (Team Jess 4 lyf). I met with Brad at the ceremony area which is in the heart of the forest. The ceremony takes place under a gorgeous stone chapel. Jo joined Brad in the chapel and through teary eyes they exchanged rings and tied the knot.
After being showered with confetti and snacking on a few canapés we headed into the forest for their portraits and these guys were such naturals. Theres so many great opportunities for portraits at Royle Forest, whether it’s in the festoon lit walkways or at the ruined archways there’s not a bad backdrop in sight.
Speeches were filled with laughter and singing which was one of my favourite moments but these guys really brought the heat when it came to the evening’s dance. This was a big wedding and with everyone throwing shapes inside the tipi on one of the hottest days of the year, it was an absolute sweatbox, but so worth it!
Speaking of heat, we ended the night with a good old sparkler exit which is always a hoot and a lovely way to end an amazing day.
I can’t thank Jo & Brad enough for having me to capture their day and it was a pleasure to shoot at such a stunning venue.
