2021-Year In Review ~
I’m not going to lie, I came into 2021 feeling super shitty. I’d had some amazing moments throughout 2020 with small intimate weddings and a couple of moments where things felt like they might be getting back to normal but eventually lead to more restrictions or more lockdowns. 2020 was meant to be my year, god dammit! I spent the majority of 2020, rearranging weddings for 2021. When we went back into lockdown over Christmas, I imagined I’d be rearranging those dates as well. So it’s safe to say I wasn’t looking forward to 2021.
I’d figured we were in this for the long haul and that getting another job wouldn’t be a bad idea, I heard word that a testing centre was opening up nearby and were looking for workers. What I thought was going to be 6 weeks work turned into 6 months and I ended up working with some of the best people I could have hoped for as well as meeting some incredible members of the public, many of which became regulars. But all good things must come to an end and as restrictions began to lift my covid crew had to disband and make their way back to their normal jobs. And then the next 6 months are a blur.
From the first wedding I shot this year, the whirlwind that has been 2021 has barely stopped and its only in the last week or so that I feel I’ve had chance to slow down and look back on the year. This year reminded me a lot of why I fell in love with weddings, those huge moments of elation when a couple get to celebrate their love with the people they treasure most.
The other big thing that happened this year was I turned 30! There are often times when I don’t feel I’ve done much in 20s but when I look back now on what I’ve achieved there’s a small part of me thats proud. I’m slowly getting better at this ‘self-love’ thing. Baby steps.
So 2021 actually turned out to be a bit of a belter. 2022 is equally looking like a great start to a new decade for me and I can’t wait for the journey to begin!
